I have a Nortel and a Siemens switch. Can you interface both?
A. Yes.
We have also successfully interfaced with DEX, Excel, NACT, Harris, Rolm, NEC, Mitel, as well as other switches, various call buffers and polling devices.
I am a reseller. Can you process my network vendor's call detail?
A. Yes, we support most major (and many minor) vendors.
In fact, CAS allows you to process up to 99 different call record inputs, while maintaining the ability to report on each individually.
I'm currently using a service bureau. Can HLS convert my database files?
A. Yes.
We will write programs to move your existing database into CAS.
I'm billing nine million calls per month. Can you handle this volume?
A. Yes.
There is virtually no limit to HLS file capacities with proper hardware configurations.
How long does it take to install CAS?
A. Once the hardware is installed and operational, CAS installation takes only one day.
Training and system configuration is generally one month
How many people do I need to run CAS?
A. JUST ONE! A billing manager.
Where do I get my hardware?
A. Usually specialized hardware is not required. However, Highland Lakes Software will recommend a system configuration, as well as reliable vendors, for any hardware you don't obtain from a local supplier.
Frankly, many of our new customers install CAS on equipment that they already have. Additionally, you may opt to run under Windows2000 or later; desktop or server.
What happens if I outgrow the CAS?
A. That is an unlikely outcome. Ever increasing CPU speeds, multiprocessor hardware platforms and CAS design allow upward compatible growth paths.
Can CAS provision my long distance with the ILEC or my carrier?
A. Yes.
Automated PICs Out and CARE In are supported.
Do you supply V&H tables/International Country/City information?
A. Yes.
CAS supports the Valucom or Telecordia V&H Table formats.
Does HLS provide custom programming?
A. Yes. However, the flexible design of the system minimizes it.
You may also choose to use the Pervasive P.SQL database which will allow full access to CAS data
Can I charge different rates to my customers?
A. Yes. More than 1,000,000 rate tables may be defined and selectively assigned to your customers.
Can the CAS rate International calls?
A. Yes. It also offers provides banded Mexico rating and stores 16 digit numbers.
Can the CAS rate 800 and 900 calls?
A. Yes.
Additionally, originating 800 ANl's will be printed on statements. Also, CAS handles Operator Service, Calling Card calls, Faxes, Cellular/PCS and Voice Mail.
Does the CAS provide volume discounting?
A. Yes!
Volume tables offer discounting by hours or dollar volume, by time of day, by call destination, etc. Different volume tables may be selectively assigned to your customers and also may be shared by customers. Both calls and Recurring/Non-recurring Charges may be discounted.
Can you blend multiple products in a single statement?
A. Yes, including local services, wireless, cellular, paging, IVR services, Internet, VoIP, etc.
Does the CAS offer management summaries on the customer statements?
A. Yes. Up to 20 different management summaries may be selectively assigned to customer statements.
Can the CAS calculate sales commissions?
A. Yes. Commissions may be paid to multiple salespeople per account and you can pay different rates on varying kinds of calls or products. You can even pay different sales people for individual services under one account.
Can customers be billed through their local exchange provider?
A. Yes. Full EMI billing support is available for all local exchange providers, or outsource agents, that offer that service.
CAS also provides you with the ability to send customer charges to credit card clearing houses for payment.
Does the CAS maintain a current balance for each customer?
A. Yes. A complete accounts receivable system maintains historical, as well as current balance information.
Aging reports may be printed for four aging periods, which you may define/re-define.
Can I charge late charges?
A. Yes. CAS will calculate late charges, as well as produce past due notices.
In addition, you may choose to offer prompt payment discounts, too.
What kind of recurring and non-recurring charges are handled?
A. The design of the recurring and non-recurring charges function allows for virtually any billing scenario.
Equipment (Rental, Lease and outright Purchase), service fees, USOCs, local dial tone, voice mail, WATS Access Lines, T1s/E1s -- you name it!
CAS also supports the special tax/surcharges sometimes required for local service billing.
Can I take notes concerning contacts with my customers?
A. The CAS Customer Service module allows free form notes for each customer contact. These notes, along with other contact information may be stored on-line for instant retrieval, indefinitely.
Additionally, you may schedule future tasks/reminders and a wide variety of management reports are available to keep you abreast of customer service activity.
Does CAS allow SQL access to its database information?
A. Yes, CAS supports the Pervasive P.SQL database to allow full access to the data.
Can CAS handle billing for Internet Web Hosting and Design Services?
A. Yes. In fact, the system includes Product Catalog support, which allows you to make up product bundles containing multiple items.
This way, if you bundle, say, hosting, 100 MEGs of bandwidth and 5 pages of web design into a single product, you can manage and track it as a unit, or by its individual components.
Can the system calculate and bill usage-sensitive Internet services?
A. Yes. So long as your server or router provides a data stream concerning usage items, CAS can merge this information and rate it for billing.
Can Internet Services, Long Distance and Local Service all be in one statement?
A. Yes, CAS is a convergent billing platform.
Plus, you have great control about how various services appear in the statement. You can determine the order in which services appear, use up to 100 characters of description per service, present the services in summary form or detailed (itemized), and more.
What are my options for rendering statements?
A. You can:
- Print statements to paper and mail them yourself
- Send them to disk and outsource to a laser printing and mailing company;
- Send a paper bill, but transmit the charges to a credit card clearing house
- Send them to the Internet for Electronic Billing Presentment & Payment (EBPP)
- Using EMI, send your charges to an ILEC/RBOC/Outsource for LEC billing.
And, if you like, you can use all five methods, depending on your needs.
In addition, you can generate complex statements, with a number of management summaries, for your large corporate accounts, or simple one page statements, for basic service customers.
Statement format and content can be varied on a customer-by-customer basis.
How are taxes handled?
A. CAS includes a fully-competent taxing and compliance subsystem.
Up to twenty different taxes may be included on each billing transaction (per call, per recurring item, etc.), from an unlimited universe of Tax Types.
You may setup tax rates yourself, outsource your transactions to a tax rating service, or "handshake" with an on-premise national tax database system.
You choose the method that best serves your volume and needs.
